Life in Thames Ditton

Updated: Jun 3, 2020

24 February - 8 March

After seeing some of London and Thames Ditton, I decided I wanted to make myself even more at home. I set out to look for a gym where I could continue to practice my hobby. I eventually found one and decided to go for a trial lesson. I immensely enjoyed it and signed up for weekly pole fitness lessons. Meanwhile, at the school things are starting to run smoothly. Every morning, we come in and give the office our lunch order and set off towards our respective classrooms to help out. By now, I've become friends with one of the other teaching assistants and we often worked together in the same classroom. I started to remember the children's names and the teachers asked me for help more often.

At home I've really become part of the family. Every morning we have breakfast together and we usually walk to school together. In the afternoons, I normally go outside and take a walk around the village, or Mirjam and I work on our school projects together. Cathy (my host mum) and I usually make dinner together around 18:30 (19:00 or later if we're late) after dinner one of us does the washing up and someone else puts the boys to bed.

One afternoon Mirjam and I had a wave of impulsiveness and we both got a nose piercing. We went into Kingston to do some shopping and at that moment we decided to go into this tattoo and piercing shop and had it done. (We're both have no regrets and are very happy with it)

Friday the 6th of March we decided to see one of the Royal Horticultural Society's gardens; Wisley Gardens. This time of year there were loads of blossoms and roses to be seen, which made everything look so pretty. Naturally, we took loads of photos.

This weekend was Trigga's (my host dad) birthday. The family had asked my girlfriend to come down too. We spent the entire afternoon playing in the garden with the boys and baked a cake and had a drink together before Cathy and Trigga went into central London to celebrate.

All is well, and I really feel part of the family <3
